The building was constructed in 1900 by C.W. Brister and Son Flour Mill. The mill manufactured pastry flour and was eventually bought in 1987 by Birkett Mills in Penn Yann who subsequently shut the Mill down.
After the closing of the Flour Mill, the building had a variety of uses; automechanic shop, brew pub, pallet rebuilding, and most notably a rock band venue.
The renovation of the Flour Mill began in 2008 and will completely revitalize the 17,000 square foot building. The development will be in two phases. Phase I will be the construction of seven young professional lofts intended to draw our sucessful youth back the City of Auburn. Phase II will revitalize the remaining section of the building into 4 apartments.
